Using the Translation Tool

You can use the Translation tool to add or edit copy in your application. Media Factory offers support for many different languages to simplify the translation process.

Accessing the Translation page:

  1. In Media Factory, from the drop-down list in the left-hand corner under the Media Factory logo, select a project.
  2. In the Navigation bar, select  Applications>Applications .
  3. On the Applications page, s elect an application.
  4. Under Sections, click Translation.

  1. Categories: Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you might need to go into different categories.

         Note: Pre-existing categories are for the most part essential to the application

  1. Keyword: name of the variable
  2. English: English is the default language.

         Note: You can choose another language from the drop -down list and edited. Always save your         changes after you make them.

  1. French: French is the default secondary language.

         Note: If a language is not set up in the Application Settings of an application, it won’t appear.         

        The project defaults to English.

Example: Changing a form to say just Province rather than State/Province:

  1. In Media Factory, from the drop-down list in the left-hand corner under the Media Factory logo, select a project.
  2. In the Navigation bar, select Applications>Applications.
  1. On the Applications page, select an application.
  2. Under Sections, click Translation.
  3. On the Translator page, under Categories, select Forms .
  4. Find the P rovince keyword.
  5. Remove the word “State ” from the English column.
  6. Click Save .
  7. Test the change by going to the registration form.

         Note: It may take some time to see the changes on the website.

        

Finding the appropriate keyword to edit copy

Based on the above, to find 2entryClosedDate in the Translation section, you must go to the phases categories to edit the date.

Also, a category name usually reflects a name in the URL.

For example: mydomain.projects.fm/gallery.

Copy should be found in Categories: gallery for the gallery page.

Specifying the Domain Language

An application can have multiple languages but you must set up multiple responding domains in the Settings of an application.

 To setup the language for a doman:

  1. In Media Factory, from the drop-down list in the left-hand corner under the Media Factory logo, select a project.
  2. In the Navigation bar, select Applications>Applications.
  3. On the Applications page, select an application.
  4. On the Applications Settings page, in the Responding Domains field, type either EN or FR.
  5. Click Save .

The en and the fr determines which language will be used from the translation.

Note:  Submissions will mix if there are no language specific Channels and or Collections. Also, make sure the ID numbers of channels are declared under the appropriate keyword

Specifying Var Category Settings

You can specifying many  settings under the var category.  For example, keyword “ allowFiletypesEnter” is used to determine the filetypes that users can upload. You can edit the values ['1','2','3','4'] found in the English and French columns. Media Factory has 4 major categories for filetypes:

1. Image

2. Video

3. Audio

4. Text

If you removed ‘2’, video uploads would not be accepted.
